The Absolute Best Pasta in Cusco

The Absolute Best Pasta in Cusco

I’ve spent the last week eating my body weight in tagliatelle at 11,000 feet, and let me tell you, the altitude does strange things to your judgment—and your appetite. Forget the alpaca for a second; Cusco’s pasta game is suspiciously, gloriously strong.

You’ll find everything from a stone-oven pizzeria that turns alpaca carpaccio into a revelation to a tiny trattoria where the tiramisu warrants a second visit before you’ve even left the table. I even watched a waiter named Franco calmly handle a group of eight who kept changing their orders, which deserves its own medal.

So loosen your belt and scroll on. The carbs are waiting.

Peaceful, cozy atmosphere
Outstanding, warm service

I wandered into Piano Piano Osteria after a long day of altitude-induced dizziness, and honestly, it felt like the universe had handed me a gift. The spot sits near the plazas, but you'd never guess it from the peaceful, cozy hush inside. The pizza and pasta are both delicious, though I couldn't resist the handmade tagliatelle with a glass from their excellent wine list. The service was outstanding, warm, and unhurried, which I desperately needed. I left lighter than I arrived, both in spirit and in appetite. This place is a quiet triumph.

Great atmosphere for repeat visits

Cholos Cocina Peruana surprised me in the best way. I came for the pasta, but the alpaca, cuy, and ceviche stole my heart first. Every dish shone with freshness, and the service was quick and friendly from start to finish. They even brought an altitude potion to help with the thin air, a thoughtful touch I won't forget. The atmosphere begs for repeat visits, especially if you're brave enough to try everything on the menu. I wasn't brave. I ordered seconds of the alpaca. No regrets.

Yuraq Restaurant is where I brought my entire travel group, and nobody complained. That's a miracle. The tamales were a standout, though the beef and guinea pig dishes also impressed. The service was superb, and the wine list made me forget we were at 11,000 feet. The space is perfect for group dining, with enough room for everyone to spread out and talk loudly without annoying the other diners. It feels like a first-class local experience, the kind of place you brag about back home. I did. I'm doing it now. You're welcome.

Pizza and dessert equally excellent
Dining here beats other spots

La Osteria Cusco made me question every Italian restaurant I've ever loved. The pasta tasted like it had been flown in from Nonna's kitchen, with authentic flavors and fresh ingredients that were truly delicious. The service felt like home, which is saying something because my home doesn't serve pizza this good. The dessert was equally excellent, and I may have ordered a second tiramisu to go. Dining here beats other spots in Cusco, hands down. I rolled out, full and smug. It was a great look.

Pasta worth every bite
Tiramisu you cannot miss
Wine, lasagna, tagliatelle bliss
Focaccia fluffy, pizza doughy
Service that steals the show

Carpe Diem Cucina Italiana is not a drill. The pasta is worth every bite, and the tiramisu is a mandatory course, not optional. I paired the lasagna with a glass of red wine and nearly wept. The tagliatelle was silky, the focaccia fluffy, and the pizza dough had that perfect chew. But the real star? The service. It stole the show from the food, which is saying something. Our server remembered our names, our orders, and our allergies without a single note. I'm not sure I've ever felt so cared for, outside of my mother's kitchen. This place is a treasure.

il Olivo Restaurante Ítalo Peruano gave me a balcony view of Cusco that made me forget I was eating. Then I took a bite of the complimentary focaccia with chimichurri and remembered. The house drinks were refreshing, a welcome break from chicha. Luis, our server, guided me through the meat selection with the confidence of a man who has never made a mistake. The table service was fast and friendly, and the view alone is worth the visit. I could have stayed all afternoon, but I had more pasta to hunt. This place made my list.

Cozy atmosphere, warm service
Surprising mountain top favorite

Panzotis Ítalo Peruano Restaurant is a mountain top favorite, and I finally understand why. The stone oven pizza is pure magic, with a charred crust that crackles just right. But the alpaca carpaccio was the surprise winner. Tender, delicate, and utterly delicious. The fresh food takes time to arrive, but trust me, it's worth the wait. The cozy atmosphere and warm service make you feel like you've stumbled into a family home. I left with a new respect for Peruvian-Italian fusion. Also, I ate so much I couldn't speak. It was glorious.

Best restaurant in Cusco
Staff handles allergies thoughtfully
Herbal sodas are unmissable
Pumpkin soup wins repeat visits
Lomo saltado steals the show

LOCAL Restaurante is, without exaggeration, the best restaurant in Cusco. I walked in with a list of allergies that would make a nutritionist weep, and the staff handled it thoughtfully, adjusting dishes without rolling their eyes. The herbal sodas are unmissable, like drinking a garden in a glass. The pumpkin soup was so good I dreamt about it, and I may have gone back the next day just for it. But the lomo saltado stole the show. Perfectly seared beef, crisp fries, and a sauce that demanded to be mopped up. I am not a poet, but I would write a sonnet to that dish. Go. Just go.

Worth a second visit
Lovely small restaurant vibe

Nonna Trattoria is a small, lovely place that feels like it was pulled from a Tuscan hilltop and dropped into Cusco. The caprese salad was done right, with tomatoes that actually taste like something. The pizza and calzone were perfect, and I loved that you can customize the calzone to your heart's content. I stuffed mine with extra cheese and sausage, and I regret nothing. The service was warm, and the vibe is intimate without being stuffy. I finished my meal and immediately planned my second visit. It's that kind of place. Trust me, you'll want to go back too.

MARDU ITALIAN BISTRO might just have the best pasta in Cusco, and I'm not saying that lightly. I've eaten a lot of pasta in the past week. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors incredible, and the atmosphere is beautiful, all warm woods and soft lights. A special shoutout to Franco, our waiter, whose smile never faltered even when our group of eight kept changing orders. He handled us with grace and humor. The restaurant accommodated our large party seamlessly, which is a skill. If you're looking for a place that feels authentic and handles a crowd, this is it. I'm still thinking about the tagliatelle. The play area kept the little ones busy while I focused on the truly important task: eating. The tableside food preparation is interactive and entertaining, and the service is exceptional, especially for families. My children, who usually subsist on chicken nuggets, devoured the pasta options without complaint. The dishes are fresh and beautifully presented. I left with a full belly and a happy heart. Hanz sits right on Plaza de Armas, which means you're paying for location, but here's the thing: the prices are fair and the portions honest. I was skeptical of any restaurant that's recently renovated, but the spotless space won me over. Melanie, our server, was the highlight of the meal, attentive without hoveringholand genuinely cheerful. The pasta was simple, comforting, and exactly what I needed after a day of sightseeing. If you want a no-frills, dependable meal with a view, Hanz delivers. I've already planned my return for the tiramisu, though I didn't even try it. It just feels right.
